Grades 5 & 6 Remedial classes meet each week during Skills. We concentrate on Language Arts skills, Vocabulary review, and prepare for tests.
Grades 7 & 8 Remedial classes meet during Spanish. The classroom curriculum in Literature and Language Arts is reinforced and reviewed.
Grade 7 Religion will study the New Testament; Getting know Jesus, His disciples, and the foundation of our Catholic Faith.
Tests and quizzes will be announced well in advance.
Grade 7 students will be assigned a Kindergarten Buddy. Visiting with buddies is always a treat!
Grade 8 Religion text is Morality; students learn to live as Jesus, make wise choices, and treat others with kindness. Students will visit their buddies in Grade 1.
LOOMIS PROGRAM
Thursday October 9th our mentors will return to Loomis to begin another year. We welcome Conor Hoey, Jessica Canata, Mary Dirkes, Aubrianne Kane, and Jimmy Mier and Marikate Matys to the program this year. Our mentors have made it possible for Loomis to initiate cultural changes at the facility that include small group activities, baking in the new kitchen on the second floor, increased participation in activities, and so much more. Loomis received a special acreditation status held only by two facilities in the world. This was acomplished in great part by the Intergenerational Mentoring Program. Congratulations to Loomis and our mentoring students. The residients, staff, and families are most grateful to our students for their dedication to enhancing the lives of their elder friends.
Mentors and parents gathered for a pizza party on Oct. 23rd, to celebrate the end of orientation.
Loomis Program is cancelled for Nov. 13th. "Trim The Campus" will be held on Thursday Dec. 4th from 10:00 to 12:30. Students will be transported to Loomis and transported back to school for dismissal. A permission form will be sent home prior to that day.
CHOIR
Mr. Marion and I are enjoying working with the Choir.
We will once again sing at the Hospice LifeCare Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday Dec. 4th at 10:00 at the Holyoke mall. The ceremony takes place on the first floor at the Customer Service Desk near Sears. More information will be given to parents prior to the date.
