           Explanatory Myth Assignment

Using at least two of the gods and goddesses listed on pages 576-577 of your Adventures for Readers book, create a myth that explains the origin of a natural object (see page 605 in your literature book) or a phenomenon
(such as a sunset, the moon phases,  the leaves changing colors, etc.). Your story must include dialogue, a conflict that is resolved, and a clever explanation.  The writing must use specific adjectives and vivid verbs so that your descriptions appeal to the senses and “paint a picture with words.”

You may work with up to two other students on this assignment, but all members of the group must submit a Type 5 so that everyone has a piece to put in the Collins folder. Make sure you choose your partner(s) wisely.  You are more than welcome to complete this assignment by yourself.
On the day these myths are due, your group will read the myth to the rest of the class.  All members should read a section of the story.  Make sure you practice prior to reading in front of the class.

Requirements:
v    Type 5 from each member
v    Type 3 (one copy with revisions evident)
v    A minimum of two pages typed (Type 5)

FCAs:
1)    two gods/goddesses appropriately used (10)

3)    concrete sensory details that appeal to the reader (30)
