Dear Quashnet School Community Members,
Thank you to all families and members of the Mashpee community for helping to make the Quashnet School a wonderful learning community.
Please read our weekly newsletter. It is sent home each Monday with your child. It can also be viewed on our district website (www.mashpee.k12.ma.us). Click on "Quashnet School" and then on "Newsletter" shown on the left side of the page.
Please continue having discussions with your children about the importance of their not using threatening language in our school setting which includes bus stops, bus rides, lunch, recess, hallways, and classrooms. Threatening language directed at other students, adults, or to oneself will not be tolerated. We need to work together to build and maintain a respectful and safe learning environment for all students.
If you, as parent/guardian, are dropping off your child at the beginning of the school day or picking up your child at dismissal, you must drive around to the back of the school and use the cafeteria door. At either period of the day we ask that parents demonstrate patience. The period of time for dropping off your child in the morning is 8:00 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. (No staff member is on duty prior to 8:00 a.m.) When dropping off your child in the back please pull over to your right. In the morning, most parents do not get out of their vehicles; just the students. When picking your child up at the end of the day you must enter the cafeteria to sign your child out. Please park to the left of the back road. Parking in the fire lane is not permitted.
The calendar for school year 2009-2010 appears on our school's website (referenced above). The dates for the 2010 MCAS testing are shown on the website as well.
This year's district-wide theme is "Mashpee Reads." Various school-wide and town-wide activities will take place to help our students improve their reading skills and embrace the joy found in reading.
We continue our focus on positive student behavior through our "Falcon Five" program. This year we are opening our "Falcon Five" store where students can cash in the tickets they've earned for prizes. We encourage our students to demonstrate behaviors that indicate they are safe, respectful, responsible, caring, and ready.
Our work is about transforming children's lives everyday. Please contact us at any time with your comments, questions, or concerns.
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
