All students have one music session each week; 30 minutes for Kindergarteners and 45 minutes for students in Grades 1 through 5.
All grade levels prepared and organized music to present during Music In Our Schools Month. "MIOSM" is a nation-wide musical focus during the month of March advocating the importance of music education in a school setting. The Kindergarten and First Grade students presented their performance on March 17th and the Second and Third Graders performed on March 31st. The final performance will be Grades 4 and 5 on Tuesday, April 7th at 2:00.
The Monday music links have been very successful for many students. In the fall, multiaged students learned an assortment of folk and modern-day dances in the gym with myself and Miss S instructing. During the months of December and January some 4th and 5th grade students learned beginning guitar skills. During February and March shifted to singing with the "One, Two, Three Chorus." Students from these respective grades sang together on Mondays. In April, one more school chorus group will be assembled as this is a very popular enrichment area for many young musicians:)
Regardless of age or grade level, all students experience music at Captain Isaac Paine School in a similar manner. Each student receives opportunities to listen, move, play and sing songs that build confidence and personal responsibility within a musical ensemble. Thank you for the opportunity to work with your children; it is a true pleasure.
I am in the school Monday through Thursday and am off on Fridays. Please leave me a message at the school (647-5100) if you have any questions or concerns. I will return your call or arrange a conference at a convenient time.
