Spring is here. May is just around the corner. It's hard to believe that there is so little time left to this school year.
A few thoughts for the season. May is Better Speech and Hearing Month. It's a time to remember the important role speech, language and hearing play in our lives and the lives of children. This is a good time to be aware of how loud your child is listening to music/MP3 players. The use of earbuds can cause damage to hearing - just as exposure to any loud sound over a period of time can. The habits we start children with will last with them a life time. What a gift if they can have normal hearing throughout their adult lives!
Don't forget to read to your children and have them read with you. It's a great way to help develop their vocabulary, memory skills, and ability to predict and discuss.
