    Hello, Everyone! Here is the news from Grade One!

1.  Monday 2/8
       Art.
       Book Buddies.
       Father Rodrigues comes to visit!
2.  Tuesday 2/9
       Neos.
       Library with Mrs. Dawson.
3.  Wednesday 2/10
       Neos.
       Phys. Ed. (Phys. Ed. uniforms)
       Library. (Library books due.)  
4.  Thursday 2/11
       Spanish - There is no homework due this week.
       Music.
       Phonics with Mrs. Walsh.
5.  Friday 2/12
       Spelling Test.
       Show and tell words must contain the sound of
       long e, as in feed or me.
       Weekly reports sent home.
       A small class Valentine party.
       Hopefully, a visit from Harriet and Cathy!
6.  Spelling words this week are truck, bell, smoke,
       brave, pole, ring, work, done, always, clean.
       Challenge words are mailbox, paintbrush,
       payday, and  raindrop.
7.  Computer reading tests...1,065! Our next popsicle
       mom will be Mrs. Trunzo when we reach 1,100!
8.  Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary this week.
9.  Sign language words introduced so far...mom, dad,
       grandma, grandpa, sister, brother, cousin, baby,
       family, I, love, like, my, ... bird, rabbit,
       bug, mouse, fish, dog, cat ... food, eat, milk,
       orange, sandwich, ice cream, vegetables, fruit,
       water...excuse me, sorry, thank you, please,
       my name is, I love you, sit, friend... black,
       red, yellow, white, blue, green, purple,
       rainbow... Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
       Thursday, Friday, Saturday, day, week, page,
       numbers 1-10, 20-100 (a work in progress!)...
       Please will you tie my shoe?... what, is, your,
       favorite, color, animal...words to "Santa Claus
       is Coming to Town".
10.  Please send in mittens and hats with your child.
       Except for extreme cold, we love to go outside
       for recess!
11.  Click on "Flashcards" and have your child
        practice the number facts that we use every
        day.
12.  Please have your child count your spare change!
13.  Please ask your child the time on the hour and
        half hour.
14.  Each week we will concentrate on ten number facts
        to be memorized. (This means they don't need
        to use their fingers at all!) This week's
        facts are:
        6+4, 7+5, 8+3, 9+2, 6+6, 10-6, 11-3, 12-6,
        11-9, 12-7.
