Congratulations to our robotics teams for doing so well at competition. Dr. Blaise, Mr. Boswell, and I are very proud of you and your accomplishments. Battling Bots came in 8th and Raging Robots came in 25th out of 49 teams. We are also proud of your display of sporstmanship. You are all winners in our eyes. Robotics begins again on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Thank you so much for the beautiful roses and flowers. They look beautiful on my desk and prayer table. Also thank you for allowing me to work with your children in robotics.
Grade 6 Science: We are beginning our study of habitats, ecosystems, and biomes. We will begin with ecosystems and what makes up an ecoystem. Then we will discuss habitats including the habitat of an owl which we discussed when we watched "A Home for Pearl." We will disect an owl pellet when discussing the owl's ecosystem.
Grade 6 Math: We are continuing with fractions. We will begin division of fractions. We will end with a review of all processes involving fractions. We will begin per cent next.
Grade 7 Science: We will begin a unit on How your body works. We will begin with cells and continue with the systems of the body. We will look at animal and plant cells under the microscope and discuss their differences. Next we will begin with the skeletal syatem. We will have a test on the animal and plant cells on Friday.
Prealgebra 1: We are finishing our chapter on inequalities. Our next chapter will be on rational numbers. I will be holding a class after school for those that are having difficulty with solving inequalaties. It will be held on Friday, January 29, 2010 from 2:30 - 3:30. A project will be forthcoming.
Prealgebra II: Students will continue the unit on number patterns, fractions, and percents. Students will also do a lab in which they will solve problems using a list.
Grade 8 Science: Students are getting ready to combine elements through bonding. They will do a lab in which they will decide what atom will bond with an element I give them.
Grade 8 Math: Algebra I is continuing a unit on slope and graphing linear equations. A project involving slope will be forthcoming.
Algebra II will continue their geometry unit. They will study quadrilaterals, triangles, and tessalations. They will make a drawing using a tessalation for a project.
Yearbook staff: Meetings will be held on Wednesday and Thursday each week from 2:30 - 4:00.
