Hi. I am updating this on Friday so I hope all of you have a great weekend. Here are just a couple of reminders before a look at the week ahead...
*Book Fair-any student who did not get the chance to purchase books/items at the Book Fair will have the opportunity to do so on Monday. Any student wishing to buy books can bring in his/her money on Monday. Please put the money in an envelope with your child's name on it.*
Veteran's Day: There is NO SCHOOL on Wednesday due to the Veteran's Day Holiday.
Here is a look at the week ahead...
Vocabulary: We will begin Unit 8 this week. Students will not have a test on the words this week. The test will be scheduled for sometime next week.
Science/Health: Students will focus on several health lessons this week. It is imperative that students take all notes given in class, as students DO NOT have Health textbooks. I will speak to the students about the importance of taking complete notes. Some of the topics we will discuss in Health this week will include...
* risk behaviors
* self-esteem
* self-concept
* personality
Math: Students will review a couple of concepts from last week and then we will work on an in class project in which students will compose cookbooks. Students will use the internet to find recipes that can be used for Thanksgiving. Students will have to find recipes that have fractions in them and multiply those recipes to accommodate a larger number of people. When the project is complete, we hope that we have a better understanding of fractions and yummy recipes to try.
Social Studies: Students will read and discuss the lost colony of Roanoke. Students will read the information pertaining to the disappearance of the colonists. Students will then have to work within a group to decide what in fact happened to the colonists based on the information in their book and from information that they will research.
