Each day we gather for our morning meeting and our prayer time. I read a Bible devotional to the class from the book "Blessings Everyday" Each reading features a Bible promise or truth based on an age appropiate theme. Each reading is followed by a rhyme. The book isa walk through the Bible from Genesis through Revelation where the children will discover who God is and how His promises relate to them today.
Each week one child is selected to be the star helper. The star helper gets to be the line leader do the calender, the gumball machine, the weather and oTHer teacher helper tasks.
The children will be introduced to our classroom mascot. He is a teddy bear. They will get to name him and the bear will go home with one student every weekend for a two night sleep over. Our bear arrives at your house with a bag and a journal.. I ask that you write a short paragraph about what your child did with our mascot and return him on Monday. We will read in class about the happenings of your weekend.
We will continue our journal writing.
We will practice printing names everyday.
Phonics/Reading
This week we will begin our study of the letter Tt. The children will be printing the lettters, identifying the letters in context and learning the sound of the consonant Tt. The children will also be introduced to their first sight words. The sight word for this week is am. It is very important that you make flash cards for you children (keep the cards at home) to review with your child. I will periodically test the children on their words. If your child is having difficulty I will let you know.There are 36 sight words that your child must learn in kindergarten.
MATH--- We will continue Chapter 3 the children willidentify posotions such as above, below, top , middle, bottom, on, over, under, inside, outside, in front of. left, right, between, before, after and left and right. They will also solve problems by following ddirections and acting out a problem.
We will begin our mini-unit owls.
RELIGION We will begin by studying Creation. God gives us animals.
