WELCOME BACK TO A NEW SCHOOL YEAR!

Homework & Journal
Every 4 homeworks count as one grade(for example if you hand in a homework assignment on Mon., Tue., Wed. and Thur., you get a homework grade of 5.  If you only hand in 3 assigmenments, you get a 4, etc.).

Scripture journals will be based on the Gospel reading of the Sunday Mass that week.  A new passage is assigned each Monday.  Journals will either count as an Independent grade (if I have the passage written out on the board); or as a Classwork grade (if the passage needs to be looked up by the student, ie. Luke 5:4-8).
~Ideas and questions about the passage may also be found at www.weliveourfaith.com

      SCRIPTURE JOURNAL RUBRIC
1.  Write the passage and questions in your scripture journal.
2.  Explain what the passage means to you.
3.  Answer the questions, with examples if appropriate.
4.  Use complete sentences.
5.  Use proper punctuation, grammar and capitalization.

6.  Hand in the journal on time:
           6th grade: due on Thursdays
7th & 8th grade: due on Wednesday mornings

Art projects, writing projects and/or research projects or essays may also be assigned.

In class this week:

For all grades:  An overview of what will be covered this year.  We will also review expectations (of work and behavior), classroom rules and grading.

This year's theme is "Catholic Schools Celebrate Service", so the idea of Service and Christian morals & values will be reinforced all year long.

Lord, giver of all gifts, may I be grateful for my special gifts and use them for the good in every way.  Amen.

        ****HAVE A GREAT WEEK!****
