Journal audit due date: In lieu of journal audits, journals will be collected on June 2nd. The cumulative grade for journals this quarter will be contingent upon the completion of all journal shares and meeting the standard for all journal entries.

Course/Policies Overview:
This year we will focus on various genres of literature as we study American literature from Washington Irving to the present. Particular emphasis will be placed on writing skills, as well, in the form of daily journal writing, creative writing, and frequent essays. Every quarter, you will also be required to submit a journal audit, which will reflect upon the past quarter. (Further instructions will follow.)

Grades are based upon the following percentages:
College-
50%- tests, writing assignments, projects
20%- homework
30%- quizzes
Literacy II-
40% - tests, writing assignments, projects
20%- homework
20%- quizzes
20%- class participation and preparedness
Late work policy:
Ten points will be deducted per day for late projects and essays.
No more than 50% can be earned if a homework assignment is late.
Students are expected to make up missing work the day after returning to school.
Revisions:
Students are allowed to revise numerous times before submitting work for a grade. After work has been graded, however, students are only allowed one revision, which must be resubmitted within one week.
