Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten:These students are in a unit on Movement Exporation and Simple Games. The students begin to utilize some of the lead-up skills learned in earlier units into some of the simple games they will be playing.
First, Second and Third Grades: Students in these grades are in the sixth week of a combined unit on Movement Exploration, Tag, Simple Games and Ball Games. They will begin to work with the long ropes this week.

Fourth-Fifth Grades:These grades are in a Tag and Dodgeball Unit.  The students in these grades work on throwing, striking, catching, kicking, runnig, dodging, tagging, and all types of locomotor and non-locomotor skills.  They also focus on thinking in the "gym classroom" and work on learning the rules of the game and on various game strategies. They will be working with the ropes as part of their warm-up.
Sixth-Eighth Grades: Students in these grades will begin a unit on Volleyball this week.  We will be focusing on the bump and set and passing with a partner and in groups.  Game play will begin next week. The students will begin to use the jump ropes as part of their warm-up. Students are encouraged to participate to the best of their ability and give each game or sport their all. The middle school curriculum includes units in individual and team sports as well as a strong emphasis on fitness.  Each year builds on the skills and strategies covered in the previous year's curriculum.

Intramural News: Students in the middle school are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of intramural sports throughout the school year. Intramurals take place the last fifteen minutes of the lunch period.  All students are welcome to participate.  This is a privilege awarded to students in grades 6-8 with the expectation that good behavior and sportsmanship are expected by all.

Prisoner Dodgeball Intramurals is in full swing. The tournament has six mixed teams (Country Bears, Muppets, Flintstones, Rugrats, Lollypop Kids and Little Rascals) of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.  The Rugrats and the Flintstones are the only remaining teams.  The finals are set for Monday. The Rugrats will have to take two games from the undefeated Flintstones to capture the championship. Stay tuned...
