Just A Few Reminders:

-No School Monday! Happy Columbus Day!!

-Terra Nova Testing begins on Tuesday.  Please make sure that students have #2 Pencils, get a good night sleep, eat breakfast and pack a healthy snack.  It is also very important for students to be on time to school each morning!

-Please make sure your child has a red pen and blue or black erasable pens! Many students do not have pens to use on assignments.

-Please remember to check your child's agenda daily, this will help your child to stay organized and will help to make you aware of events.

-Just a reminder we are a peanut free school.  If you would like to bring in a treat to celebrate a birthday in the classroom, remember that it must be a store bought item with the ingredients on the package!

Reading-
This week in Reading we will continue reading a short story called, A Visit with Grandpa, in our reading books.  Our skill this week is setting.

Language Arts/English-
This week will begin our first writing assignment about Halloween.  We will be creating webs and working on our rough drafts throughout the week.

Science-
The first unit we will cover in Science is Water and Weather.  What makes water disappear? Students will be exploring and discussing where water is found as a solid, liquid and gas.  Our focus this week will be on the water cycle.  Students will be working on lesson outlines and read to find out worksheets.

Social Studies-
We will  be reading and discussing the Northeast region. The Appalachians are very old mountains that were formed in this region over 250 million years ago. The many lakes and flatlands were formed by glaciers. This region has four seasons and precipitation varies depending on the elevation. Flat areas are perfect for farming. The Northeastern coastline is dotted with bays and harbors. Large cities have developed in Northeast cities in these harbor towns. We will also be reading and discussing electing a president in our weekly readers.

Religion-
The next chapter we will be covering in Religion is; Sin in Our World.  Students will learn that God gives freedom to choose to love and follow him.  They will also learn that the choices that lead us away from him are called sins.

Spelling-
There will be no spelling or definition test this week.
