_______

STRUGGLING STUDENTS

...I want to help!.  I am available almost every day for an hour after school to provide help, and you can catch the 2:45 bus (check with me ahead of time to make sure).  This is a great option if you're behind or if you're just confused.  Also: Wednesdays are my day on detention duty, so except for Staff Meeting days, I'm always here.

_____

Top 10 Ways to Rock That LA Class Thang:

1) Make sure you've made up missing work.  See me or check powerschool.
2) Revise papers that can still be turned in for an improved grade.
3) Keep up with projects and papers ahead of time.  If you don't think you have homework, it's probably because you could be reading something, writing, or working on a project.
4) Ask your friendly neighborhood teacher (me!) any questions, and see me after school, in particular, for more individualized help.
5) Read on your own and discuss what you're reading with someone, anyone!  This keeps your reading and analysis skills sharp.
6) Keep a journal.  If your parents are cool with it, even consider keeping a blog or a journal on your computer... this is a great way to work on some writing.
7) Keep track of your sources on projects.  Any time you use anything from any book, website, or article...ANYTHING... write down all the key info (author, title, website, date, publisher, whatever you can get)...this makes bibliographies easier later.
8) Do word puzzles, crosswords, logic games, brain teasers... keep yourself thinking outside the box.
9) Use active reading strategies - jot yourself little notes, underline stuff, preview questions, summarize in your own words, etc.  This really helps you remember what you read.
10) Read, read, read the directions.  Again.  And again.  And again.=D
