June 2011
Can you believe the end of the year is already upon us?!? We have come along way since September. These third graders have shown so much progress throughout the year. I will truly miss this class; it was a great group to work with every day!
Does your son or daughter fill you in on all the fun things we have been doing and learning about lately? In science we are finishing up our Soggy Paper experiments. See if you child can explain a fair test to you. (Hint: it involves variables and controls.)
We are just about finished with our end of the year benchmark testing. I am really impressed with the progress the students have shown as our year moves on. Their fourth grade teachers at their new schools will be so amazed! As we've been lucky to have exposure to so much new technology in our classroom this year, hopefully your child will go on to their new schools as technology leaders!
Don't forget to have your child practicing math, reading, and writing all summer long. Have you heard of the "summer slide"? Unfortunately, over the two months off students tend to slide back and forget some of the great things they learned the year before. Practicing throughout the summer helps to keep the slide back to a minimum. The following is our school resource page. It has great websites to practice all sorts of subjects and skills. http://mhsweb.ci.manchester.ct.us/library/k8resources.htm
I wish you all the best of luck next year, no matter where you are, and I look forward to seeing many of you as fifth graders in our newly renovated Highland Park!
As always, communication is very important to me. Please, if you have any concerns, questions, comments, or just want to talk, come to me! I really appreciate and value all of chats. Thank you for all of your support this year.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Klemonski
