To the parents of my Juniors and Seniors,
I am in the Whose Who of American Teachers Book for 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007./ This past year, I completed my Masters in Educational Technology from Eastern Connecticut State University and have become certified to teach a computer trade in Information Systems Technology. I am very knowledgeable in computer software, hardware, upgraes and keep current with technological advancements.
I am also the Animation Club Advisor and we meet most Thursdays until 4 PM.
I have posted the curriculum for your child below.
SENIORS:
The students have completed a unit in Excel, a spreadsheet program. I feel that this program is essential to their future, as a college student or working in the business field and/or their trade.
If you are not familiar with this program, you can go to www.microsoft.com and read about it.
The rest of the year, the student will work on the following:
1. Complete their portfolio's, which is a graduation
requirement.
2. Conduct college research and other related college
preparations online. This includes contacting
colleges for information, completing FAFSA, and
other activities.
3. Conduct job searches and apply online.
4. Work on a "Professional Development Program" which
is designed to give them career enhancement skills.
5. Continue to work on computer skills and knowledge
which includes the following:
Internet safety
Windows XP, an operating system
Microsoft Office 2003 package which includes
Word,Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
I feel this is important because the 21st century is computer focused.
JUNIORS:
There is a new course for ALL Juniors this year. It is called CAREER DEVELOPMENT LAB. The course description is:
The Career Development Lab is a required course designed to provide students with the specific skills and competencies needed to be successful employees, advanced students and entrepreneurs, and leaders. Students are exposed to experiences that are designed to further develop their professional and social skills, and include topics such as, interviewing and business meeting skills, social etiquette skills, customer service skills, portfolio development, and team development skill. Through the use of self-awareness activities, students are better able to make wise educational and occupational decisions as they plan for their careers and post-secondary education.
