Final copy of the research paper is due on Tuesday, June 2nd.They must also hand in their edited rough draft and rubric.
NEXT ASSIGNMENT:Rough draft and works Cited page due on Tuesday, May 26th. I explained to the students if they have a busy weekend planned, please write their rough drafts, using their outlines, tonight and tomorrow night.
Students received two model outlines today to help them to write their outline for their research report. Their outline is due on Monday, May 18th. We discussed that the purpose of the outline is two fold. It helps them to organize their materials and to see if they actually have enough information or they need to find more.
We also discussed how they must blend the facts and the opinions.
They must also copy down all source information so that they will have this later for their Works Cited page.Information includes title, author, copyright date, publisher, chapter, page numbers, etc.
It would help a great deal if your child had a research folder to keep all their materials together. Many students have already organized their materials in this manner.

Rough draft and Works Cited page due on Tuesday, May 26th. We spent a lengthy hour, with the students asking such intelligent questions about parenthetical citations and source information. The homework is the following:
Outline for their research paper is due Monday,May 18th. After completing all the recent reseacrh, the outline will demonstrate to them (and me) if they have sufficient research to write their papers.They have an ouline to follow, which we have thoroughly gone over in class.
They must have all the source information written down on index cards.They will use this later for their Works Cited page.
They have a research assignment packet that they should refer to for clarification. I also asked that all their research materials be organized in some fashion: a folder with pockets, color-coded index cards, etc.
They also need to take notes from that one source to hand in.
8th grade
Homework: Graduation speeches. Students need to have them all emailed to me over the weekend and have their final editing complete by Monday. They need to be send to a printer in time for graduation.
