Greetings from
Mrs. Walter’s Kindergarten Class
Room 6
June 2008
Welcome to our web page from the kindergarten children in Room 6:
Sammy, Emma, Caitlin, Quin, Rachel, Abby, Anna Rose, Lily, Jonathon, Jaren, Philip, Samantha, Gillian, Dylan, Thomas, Colby, Jeffrey, J.T. and Olivia.
WE ARE ALMOST FIRST GRADERS!!!!!!
I would like to thank our room mothers, Jeannie Pallanck and Ginger Halle for all the hard work they did in organizing our class parties. They deserve a round of applause for a job well done. I would also like to thank all my parent volunteers that worked with me and the children this year. Without you , things would not have gone so smoothly. A special thanks go out to Mrs. Pallanck, Mrs. Stebbins, Mrs. Geromin, and Mrs. Loefflad who were regular helpers in the classroom.
I have had a wonderful time teaching your children. It is always amazing to look back to how we all started and how far we have come. I am sending home in their brown bags the journals that they have written in over the school year. It is amazing the growth they have made in writing. Other things to treasure will be other classroom work, their paper bodies that we had hanging in the class, art work, and more. There will also be information about reading with your child over the summer along with a special gift.
Please review the sight words we have learned this year.
There are flashcards on this site for the children to practice their sight words with.
Here is the list of the 41 sight words that we are learning this year:
A and am as are at can do dad for from go here have I is in it like love mom my me no on see said the this to that they we will was with you yes
I am also encouraging all the children to read over the summer. It is important that they practice the skills they learned this year. The public library is a great place to find books that your children will enjoy. Of course , it is just as important that you read to your child so they hear the rich language of the stories they love. Please use the summer reading log that the school has given each child to record their reading. You can always add to it using another piece of paper. The first grade teachers will be looking for their reading logs come September.

Snacktime/Birthdays
Please send in at least one healthy snack with your child each day. You may send in a drink, or have your child purchase white or chocolate milk for 30 cents per 8oz carton. We are happy to celebrate birthdays at snack time and you may send in a special treat for the class to share on your child’s birthday. The mini cupcakes are a great size for K Kids. If you wish to do this, please let us know a few days in advance. There are currently 19 children in the class. Occasionally we give students snacks to eat around our theme topics or special events. We asked about allergies at registration, but we want to mention them again. Please let us know if there is any food your child should not eat.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Walter, Mrs. Holewa, and Mrs. Garvey
Please continue to label your child's snack. It would also help if you would label anything else that they bring to school with their name. Since a lot of their clothing maybe new, they might not recognize it at the end of the day. Thank you for this help.
