Here's what we're working on!

Kindergarten:   We are working on big open spaces, freezing (putting equipment down and taking a giant step away).

1st grade:

2nd grade:

3rd grade:

DON'T FORGET YOUR SNEAKERS!

Dear Parent / Guardian and student,

Before you shop for new sneakers, please think about these safety considerations:

1.    Laces are best!  I know that it’s hard for some students to tie their shoes, but when they are tied they provide great support allowing students to change direction without hurting their ankles.  Flashing lights are fine.

2.  Slip-on sneakers don’t provide support!  I can imagine that having slip-on shoes makes the
world a much easier place.  However, these shoes provide very little support as they don’t fit snug around the student’s ankle and foot.  Please avoid these shoes if possible, as they aren’t safe for running!

3.    Velcro sneakers work too!  Sneakers with Velcro straps work well, as they provide the student with a snug fit.  These shoes place a close second to the laced shoe only because the Velcro can wear out.

4.    Please, no noisemakers!  If I were in 2nd grade, I would love these shoes!  Unfortunately, these shoes tend to go off at the wrong time in school, like during instructions!  These shoes are neat, but they can be very distracting.

5.    Zippers are slippers!  Basically this is another example of a slip-on shoe.  Zippers can’t withstand the tension that a student puts on the sneakers when he/she takes off running.  The zippers split open and don’t provide the appropriate amount of support to help prevent ankle injury.

6.    High soles =  sprained ankles!  A lot of girls sneakser

7.    No wheels please!  Shoes with wheels attached to the bottom aren’t appropriate for the school setting.

Please help provide your child with the safest sneakers for physical activity!  Thank you for taking these safety factors into consideration.
