Behavioral Policies and Expectations:
SCHOOL POLICIES AS PER HANDBOOK
•No eating or drinking in class
•No electronic devices other than calculators in class
•Uniforms will remain on in class
•No graffiti. (Writing on tables will need to be cleaned during detention, writing on folders will result in point deduction on final grade!)
•Students will sign calculators out and back in when borrowing them.
•Students will remain in assigned areas and ask for/receive a pass and use the sign-out sheet before leaving the room. Students are allowed one lavatory pass out of the room per cycle, to be marked on grading rubric in folder. (Students are expected to plan accordingly and use lavatories provided in the shops.)This does not include emergency trips to the nurse, or being called to the office.
MATH LITERACY LAB POLICIES:
•If the phone rings or the intercom comes on, the noise level will drop.
•Refrain from the use of foul language
•Refrain from rocking, placing feet under front legs, or leaning back in chairs
•Compromise rule- Gum chewing allowed IF the teachers do not see or hear it. Once a member of the class must throw out his/her gum, school policy returns.
•Respect is the rule! Speaking over the teacher, not raising hands, and disrespecting classmates (including insulting one another, screaming, disobeying instructions, hitting anyone, etc.) will result in a consequence.
Consequences: (re-set each trimester)
Tardy without a pass:
First time: Points deducted from daily grade and warning
Second time: Points deducted and teacher detention
Third time: Points deducted and referral to office for discipline
Not following policies listed above:
First time: Points deducted and warning
Second time: Points deducted and teacher detention
Third time: Points deducted and referral to office for discipline
Note on detentions:
When a detention is assigned, student has the right to reschedule it one time.
If do not show, the teacher detention is doubled.
If fail to show for the doubled detention, will receive an office detention. The double teacher detention DOES NOT GO AWAY!
Any time the instructors feel that the classroom environment is becoming unsafe for those trying to learn, an administrator (or security) may be called, or a student may be asked to leave the room.
