Welcome to Ms. Maynard's English Classes Page!

Please use this page as a reference to find out what we are doing and reference sites for help in research and homework.

I am recommending that all students acquire a flash drive for their work.  This makes editing easier as they don't have to retype everything several times.  It also cuts down the chances of documents becoming lost.

Remember -- if you are absent,  you must check the folder for past work and worksheets.

11th Grade - American Literature

The Narrative of Frederick Douglas

We will be reading Frederick Douglas' autobiography and will be doing some group reading and projects in support of this.

Junior honors are reminded that they have book journals due at the end of each cycle.  Please keep up with these as they are test grades.

12th Grade - World Literature

The seniors will be coming back to the reading of Animal Farm.  They will be working in groups and will have projects assigned for each group.  We will be holding a mock trial at the end of the reading.  We are also viewing Pan's Labyrinth to make a comparison with Animal Farm in terms of abuse of power.  A letter went home about the rating of this movie.  It is R for violence.  As always, if you have concerns, please let me know.

12th Grade - Mythology

We have begun our studies of mythology and so far, so good.  We have just finished with the Vikings and will also be watching Pan's Labyrinth to identify the elements and themes of mythology in a modern setting.( A letter went home about the rating of this movie.  It is R for violence.  As always, if you have concerns, please let me know.) From here, we will take on the Greeks.  As always, we will go where the students' interests take us.

All the best and Happy Spring!
