The following information is the expected outcomes of
our shop.

Manufacturing Technology 10th Grade Goal(s)for this cycle:

Learning Objective:

Safety – Explain safety precautions relevant to the Milling Machines.

Describe how a vertical miller operates.

Safely set up and operate a miller using various work-holding devices.

Identify various types of cutters.

Explain and demonstrate how to tram a vertical milling machine head.

Complete assigned group and individual projects.

Shop Math – Addition and subtraction of common fractions

BPR – Explain the importance of parallel and perpendicular found on a drawing.

Day 1-9 Individual / Group Projects            Cooperative Teaching
Day 2 Practice
Day 9 Test

Projects to include:
•    Threaded Step Shaft,
•    Angle and Slot Milled on Plate,
•    Pair of Parallels (specific to individual vice

Day 1 Review and discuss Safety Practices for Milling Machines. (Ch. 17)             Lecture / Discussion

Day 2 Shop Math – Addition and subtraction of common fractions            Lecture / Discussion

Day 3 Miller operations & setup, (review X,Y,&Z Axis)                 Lecture / Demonstration

Day 4    Open

Day 5 Discuss and demonstrate tramming a head on a Vertical Miller.        Lecture /Demonstration

Day 6    BPR-Explain the importance of parallel and perpendicular found on a drawing. Lecture / Discussion

Day 8 Review            Lecture / Q&A
