Dear second grade parents and students,

Welcome to second grade! I hope you had a safe and fun filled summer and are eager to embark upon the learning adventures in store  in class 2-13.  I firmly believe that all students can learn, although learning styles may  differ.  Our classroom  will offer various approaches to learning, including visual, auditory, and kinesthetic methods.  Children learn best in a nurturing environment where they feel loved and respected, so they may love and respect in return. I look forward to a wonderful school year.  I am honored to be part of your child's education. Although I will try my best to keep this site current, the preferred way to communicate with me, if needed, is through the school.(by phone or note)

Sincerely,
Mrs. Ellen Naughton

UNITY
I dreamed I stood in a studio and watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a young child's mind,
and they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher.
The tools  she used were books and music and art.
The other,a parent, with a guiding hand, and a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day the teacher toiled,
with touch that was deft and sure.
While the parent labored by her side and polished and smoothed it over.
And when at last their task was done,
they stood proud of what they had wrought.
For things they had molded into the child could neither be sold or bought.
And each agreed they would have failed if either had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school, and behind the teacher, the home.
