FORMAT for LAB REPORTS
Lab reports will be typed and are due 2 days after the lab has been completed.
Lab reports are placed in a 2 pocket Science folder.
Pronouns are not used in the scientific community. Replace a pronoun with the noun it is replacing. Lab reports do not use PRONOUNS.
Follow the format directions.
PROPER HEADING
Title: “Changing Change” (Remember, “Titles” are in
quotation marks.)
Purpose: State the reason for doing the experiment.
Often, the purpose is written as a class
before the lab.
Hypothesis: A possible explanation or answer for the
results of the experiment …a prediction.
Experiment: Directions for the experiment—most of the
time the word Page and number will be
enough.
Materials- list the items needed to perform
the experiment.
Data: Record the observation. Students can use charts,
graphs, notes etc...
Conclusion: Students draw conclusions based on the
analysis of the data. Students conclude
whether or not the results support the
hypothesis. Students should use scientific
vocabulary.
Hint: Use the definitions when explaining
the outcomes.
(Conclusions are usually written in paragraph form,
6-8 C.S.---Sometimes there may be questions to answer.)
