6/6/08 The writing lab classes have been working on creating short stories.  They are due on Monday 6/9. This assignment does count for a major grade and late assignments will be marked accordingly. We will be selecting a few to be read to the students in the 1st and 2nd grade classes. Please ask your child about how they are progressing with this assignment. Thanks ever so much for your support.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I have sent out progress notices for my Writing and Writing Lab classes.  Many have not been returned.  If you have not seen a progress notice from my class this week, please ask your child for it, sign it and return it to me.  This is close to their final grade, but there will be a few more grades added.

Thank you for your help, and have a terrific and relaxing summer.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Bahoosh

Dear Parents,
As you know, my period 2 and period 9 writing classes are diligently working on their research papers.  By now you should have seen and signed the green time line sheet explaining the due dates. In my last e-mail to parents I incorrectly stated the due date as May 1. The due date as shown on the green time line sheet is Friday, April 18th.
The outline is due tomorrow. For most students, I have already seen and checked off their thesis statement, source cards, and note cards. Please talk to your child and check their progress.
Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Bahoosh.

Dear Parents,
I hope you had a wonderful Easter vacation.
The students in my period 2 and period 9 writing class are working on a research paper that will be due on May1,2008.  Each child has a bright green paper detailing the requirements and the due dates for each part.  (a signed green paper will award a few extra credit points) We are dedicating Wednesdays to work on the paper in class and to have any questions answered.  Tomorrow, the students should have their sources in class so we can work on the "Works Cited" page and begin taking notes. We are closely following the format as shown in the English textbook, Chapter 25 Research Paper.
After reading the green time line sheet, if you have questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
H Bahoosh

2/21  Hi Parents,
We are having a test tomorrow (weather permitting) on Chapter 4 VERBS.  The test will be on Monday if school is not in session tomorrow. The students have been reviewing extensively in school, but it is a good idea to have them study tonight. Thanks for your help.
Sincerely, Mrs. B.

1/23 Progress notices are coming home this week, so please be on the look out for them.
For periods 2 & 9, the writing assignment is due tomorrow.  This does count as a composition grade and eleven points are deducted from the grade for every day that it is late. ( as per policy)
In Lab class, we are working on skills directly related to the ASK test that will be given in May. Tomorrow we will do the reading strand where-by open -ended questions are expected to be answered.

1/14 Monday- We will be having 2 battles for Rome this week. One will be the results of their Daily Oral Language quiz grade, and the other will be a homework battle.  Your children can explain this to you better than I can.

Hi Parents,
Most students in the period 2 and 9 writing classes, have turned in their assignments.  Due to technology difficulties and absenteeism, a few students are granted an extension. I will talk to those students individually on Monday.
The new writing lab promises to alleviate the challenge for computer time in the main computer lab.
Enjoy your weekend (in spite of the rain).
Mrs B.

Period 2 and period 9 writing classes have long term assignments due tomorrow.
Per 2 They are working on Fantasy stories in school to go along with the reading class.  Their finished wardrobe is due tomorrow.
Period 9 students are working on adventure stories in school, and their brochure that goes along with the story is due tomorrow.
As always, we have our weekly spelling tests on Fridays. These consist of not only a spelling test, but a vocabulary test as well.  Two crossword puzzles are due for both classes.
I know this sounds like a lot of work, but keep in mind that I give several days to complete an assignment.

Hi Parents:
There is no homework from me this weekend except for the period 2 seminar class. Period 2 parents should ask your child for the orange slip that details how to submit their essays online.  Most students are ready to do this over the weekend. A few students still need to work with me on revisions. (hopefully, they know who they are)Please sign and return the orange slip so I know that each child is in the contest. THANKS
