Dear Parents,
I know you have not heard from me in a few weeks and I do apologize.  Things are very hectic right now as you can imagine.  That being said, here is an overview of our week.
In religion we are learning about the first christians and how they and we are alike.  The children also learned about the feast of Pentecost and how it is the "birthday of the church."  That was in our chapter on the Holy Spirit and how the Spirit "helped" the apostles teach others about Jesus.
In math we are continuing the chapter on money.  We will be counting dimes, nickels, pennies and I will also introduce the quarter.  Please review all math facts every day.
In language arts I am continuing the unit on the ocean.  I am sure the children told you about painting and stuffing paper fish.  They will also be "making" and painting coral. Thank you for your help with the boxes for the dioramas--they are great!  Hopefully the children are learning something about the ocean and sea life.  Today they heard a story called, "My Life With The Wave."  It is about a boy who takes a wave home with him!  The children are going to be writing their own story about taking home a wave--can't wait to read them!  There are no new spelling words this week.  Please review reading words on a daily basis.
Tomorrow is our class trip.  Please refer to last week's letter that was sent home for information.
Thursday is field day.  Gym clothes should be worn on both on class trip day and field day.
Have a wonderful week.
Maureen Tinneny
