All is going well in art class. Kindergarten has adjusted nicely and hopefully have brought home a few projects already. K & 1 know the color wheel and the colors of the rainbow.
Grades 1-8 have colored "mandala" designs - concentrating on color and pattern. Many are displayed in our classroom and some in the school hallway.
Grades 2-5 have seen a video about Leonardo daVinci and have colored some of his most famous artwork. The video was informative and at times comical. A question and answer session after the movie proved that the students were really listening!
If you were wondering why your children had to bring in an empty soda can...
Grades 6 through 8 are working on a "Pop Art" project. They learned about the Pop Art Movement and the artists who were responsible for it.
In class we are creating our own "pop" art - drawing soda "pop" cans, coloring them in duplicate, and mounting them so they "pop" off the page. The students are doing excellent work and a display of their work should be up shortly.
