June 8, 2009
Dear Parents:
Congratulations on making it to the last week of your son/daughter’s experience at St. Augustine School. We are sure that you will find the events of the next few days filled with memories that will last a lifetime! Just a few requests/reminders for all of our proud parents!
In order to best prepare the students for the Baccalaureate and Graduation celebrations, we have scheduled several practices to be held during the school day Monday through Thursday. Student attendance during this week is crucial. Please avoid the scheduling of doctor appointments and/or allowing your son/daughter to arrive at school late.
Baccalaureate Mass is scheduled for Thursday evening, June 11. The mass will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. We ask that all graduates be at the church no later that 6:45 p.m. A reminder that graduates are to dress appropriately. (No gowns, please.) No halter tops and no spaghetti strap dresses are to be worn without a sweater/jacket. We ask that you be mindful of the length of the selected outfit. Boys are to dress in jacket and tie. No sneaker type shoes may be worn by either boys or girls. Once again, we remind you that anyone may attend the mass. It is only parents/invited guests who will attend the dinner which will be held in the school cafeteria immediately following the mass. In addition to a delicious meal, it is at this dinner that our graduates will receive their yearbooks and autograph books. Many will be honored for their school service and extra curricular activities and the eighth grade video will be enjoyed by all.
Graduates will not attend school on Friday, June 12.
Graduation is scheduled for Friday evening, June 12. The ceremony will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. We ask that all graduates assemble in the school library no later than 7:15 p.m. Seating for parents and guests is on a first come/ first served basis. The set-up in the gym is quite nice, and we believe that there is not a bad seat in the house. Graduates are seated in a reserved section which we ask you to be mindful of when you are selecting your seat. Once again, a reminder that graduates are to dress appropriately. No gowns are to be worn. No halter tops or spaghetti strap dresses are to be worn without a sweater/jacket. We ask that you be mindful of the length of the selected outfit as all graduates will be required to use the risers to climb onto the stage when receiving diplomas and awards. Footwear should also be carefully chosen in order to prevent unnecessary falls
Be sure to bring your cameras, as there is a perfect photo opportunity during the graduation ceremony. All graduates will assemble on the risers to raise their voices in song as they celebrate their time at St. Augustine School.
It is our hope that you find this information helpful. If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at 941-3849.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Daddazio/Mrs. Kwan
