Coaches - Important! If you have not received an email from me, it means that I haven't yet received your official registration form from the State Office. I may know that your school is participating, but I don't know who YOU are - and I don't have your email. Please contact me at alicekasten@gmail.com and let me know your email.
The Coaches Meeting will take place Wednesday, Dec 2 at Grover Cleveland HS. We will begin at 4PM. There will be snacks. I strongly suggest that at least one person from your coaching team attend. Besides having your questions answered, and going over various rules, you will have a chance to select which event you will be judging at the competition.
*** ATTENTION NEW SCHOOLS***
There will be a special award given at the Regional Competition for the new school that scores best in the total of the 10 events listed below. A new school is defined as one that had not participated in at least five years. This can be the first or second year of participation for the school. So, those of you in new schools might want to concentrate on these events:
Bio Process Lab
Can't Judge a Powder
Ecology
Elevated Bridge
Experimental Design
Science Crime Busters
Physical Science Lab
Road Scholar
Solar System
Write It / Do It
Some Event Clarifications:
Road Scholar Event - Teams entering Road Scholar must bring with them a copy of the AAA Iowa-Nebraska Road map. They will not be provided for you.
Science Crime Busters - there will be no water quality section at the Regional Competition.
Building events - Anyone can impound devices, but at least one of the children who built the device must be present when the device is tested.
