Welcome to Global History and Geography! Prepare to embark on an incredible two year journey that will enlighten, stimulate, and amaze you!
Together, we will explore diverse cultures, distant lands, and ancient societies. We will examine remarkable philosophies, belief systems, and codes of law. We will travel back in time to where it all began...to the dawn of mankind!
The tools you will need to embark on this marvelous journey will include:
„X TEXTBOOK: You will take this book home and keep it with your most prized possessions. It is your official guide to our adventures.
„X NOTEBOOK: You will want to document all of the exciting new information you will discover on our journey in a THREE RING BINDER. It is imperative for the success of our journey that this notebook be organized and the information is easily accessible. This concept will be reinforced on a regular basis with NOTEBOOK QUIZZES to check for organization and accuracy.
„X HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS: The information presented in homework assignments will provide you with valuable grains of knowledge that will ensure the success of our journey. The completion of homework assignments is not optional. To reinforce the necessity of the timely and proper completion of these important assignments, many will be randomly collected and graded as quizzes.
„X ATTENDANCE: You cannot successfully participate in this journey if you do not attend class regularly. The district attendance policy will be strictly enforced. You will need to consult with your fellow travelers for any information you may have missed due to absence.
„X GRADING: Your grade will reflect the results of quizzes, tests, homework assignments, and projects. I am sure you will welcome these opportunities to demonstrate the newly acquired knowledge you have gathered on our journey!
„X GRADEKEEPER and SCHOOLNOTES: Grades will be recorded using the Gradekeeper software program. In order to encourage continuous communication with both travelers and parents/guardians, progress reports may be requested at any time via email, phone, or personal request. Important information regarding upcoming assignments, projects, tests, and extra help/review sessions will be posted on our SchoolNotes homepage located at www.sachem.edu.
I look forward to an enjoyable and successful school year!
