Classes are once a week for all grades. In music classes, students are involved in many musical activities that incorporate the National Standards for Music Education. These activities include:
• Keeping a steady beat
• Singing songs
• Movement
• Reading Rhythms
• Reading Notes
• Playing the Recorder (Third and Fourth Grades)
• Playing musical instruments
• Working together
• Performing solos and in small groups
• Playing musical games
• Learning musical terms and concepts
Chorus:
3rd and 4th Grade Chorus Rehearsals will meet Wednesday mornings at 8:00 a.m. in the gym beginning on September 19th.
Students are also expected to attend rehearsals once a week during recess.
Report card grades are determined by the student’s participation, effort, preparation and attendance in rehearsals, and concerts.
Concert attire will consist of a white shirt or blouse, black pants or skirt and black shoes.
This year’s concerts are Thursday December 6th 2007 at 7:30 pm and Thursday June 5th 2008 at 7:30pm. Both concerts will be held at the Island Trees High School.
