Classes meet once a week for all grades. In music classes, students are involved in many musical activities that incorporate the National and State Standards for Music Education. These activities include:
• Keeping a steady beat
• Singing songs
• Movement
• Reading Rhythms
• Reading Notes
• Playing the Recorder (Third and Fourth Grades)
• Playing musical instruments
• Working together
• Performing solos and in small groups
• Playing musical games
• Learning musical terms and concepts
3rd and 4th Grade Chorus:
Chorus Rehearsals - Wednesday mornings at 8:00 am in the gym beginning September 23, 2009.
Students are also expected to attend rehearsals once a week during recess.
Report card grades are determined by the student’s participation, effort, preparation and attendance in rehearsals and concerts.
Concert attire: white shirt or blouse, black pants or skirt and black shoes.
This year’s concerts are Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 7:00 pm and Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 7:00 pm. Both concerts will be held at the Island Trees High School.
