WELCOME TO A CLASSROOM FILLED WITH ALL-STARS!!!
Hi and welcome to Ms. Schinn's third grade website. Third grade is such an exciting learning adventure. It is a time for students to develop independence, responsibility and become life long learners. In Room 226, we are a team of All-Stars that work, laugh and learn together. Our goal is to always try our best and think positive!

This year is a challenging and rewarding year, filled with wonderful educational experiences. In reading, we are developing our reading comprehension and listening skills. Remember to make reading an important part of your family routine. In math, it is so important to make sure your child reviews their facts nightly. We will start out by reviewing addition and subtraction and also develop upon our problem solving skills. Then in late November, we will begin multiplication and division. In science, throughout the year we will study the Water Cycle, Matter, Forces and Machines and Life Cycles. In social studies, we will start by discussing maps, globes and graphs and then begin our Cultural Diversity Unit. This year, we will travel around the world learning about different countries such as India, Japan, South Africa and Brazil.

Here are several important reminders:
*Please be sure to check your child's homework folder every night for homework, quizzes/tests to be reviewed and signed, as well as important class and school notices.
*Every night a parent or guardian MUST sign the homework/assignment book.
*Your child can bring one healthy and simple snack to school daily.
*Spelling tests are on Friday. Make it a great habit to study the words each night.

I look forward to working with you and I know this will be an outstanding year. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to give me a call at school, write me a note or email me at lschinn@islandtrees.org!
