Focus: How have the civilizations of the world influenced our culture today?
Task: In groups of 5 you will be assigned a region of the world. For that region you will put together a 10—15 minute “TV news” presentation on the different civilizations, achievements and contributions your region is responsible for.
Requirements:
• Each group will have approximately 15 minutes to present.
• You must present using visual aids. (PowerPoint, video, poster, pictures, etc.)
• Each person in the group must have a speaking part of at least 150 words
• Create a name for your group and show
• Design a set ( Decorate the board/Desk arrangements)
• Dress for success- Professional attire is required during presentations
• Most important- Use class time effectively
Grading:
This assignment will count as 4 test grades for each individual team member.
You will be graded based on the following criteria:
Individual Work: (0-20) How well did you perform throughout the process of this project?
Class work/Group Work- (0-25): You will be graded each working day on what you do with your class time. No work equals no credit. Is the work distributed evenly? Is every body doing something? Are you wasting time?
Presentation (0-30): This is based on how well you performed during the presentation
Content (0-25): Make sure your information is factual and correct
Total Score: (0-100): This will be the total of all four categories. This will be the test score
Warning: Who you work with is up to you! But choose wisely because there will be no changing or complaining about groups once the project gets started. Also realize that group members influence your grade, so choose wisely!
You will have approximately 5 class periods to complete this assignment (including two days in the computer lab)
Topics: Each group will be assigned a region. You may choose but are not limited to the possible topics below.
Europe: Rome, Greece, Renaissance, Reformation, Middle Ages, development of religions, etc…
Africa: Societies of Africa 800-1500, Human Origins of Africa, Geography of Africa, Ancient Egypt, etc….
Asia: India, China, Tang and Song Dynasties, Qin Dynasty, Legalism, Byzantine, Russians and Turks, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, etc
The Americas: Exploration, Aztec, Inca, Maya, Mesoamerica etc…
