In Grade 6, we will be together for 10 weeks; doing Sewing for the first five weeks and Cooking for the last five weeks. This may be flip-flopped with another class.
GRADE SIX SEWING PROJECT!
Students will sew a pillow case complete with a cuff and French seams.
You will need 3/4 yard of a cotton print fabric for the pillow case; 3/8 yard for the contrasting cuff (a pattern or color that will go with the case.) You will also need a large spool of thread.
The sixth grades will switch to the kitchen after sewing We will have five weeks to explore the world of cooking!Please expect papers to sign about classroom rules and behavior!
In Grade 7 we will be doing Career Exploration, Sewing and Cooking over 20 weeks. The three topics may be taught in another order. We may add a Childcare Unit if time allows.
GRADE SEVEN ALERT! Parents, please know your seventh grader will be doing an Occupational Research Project. The students have guidelines and the due date. There are websites which will help them at the top of this page.
Students in Grade 7 will need to bring in $8 in an envelope with their name on it for their sewing project. A letter will be sent home with more details.
Both Grade 7 and Grade 6 students who are cooking will have several baking labs. Parents, be ready for samples! You may be asked to sample and evaluate your child's baked goods.
