Grade Breakdown:

    30% - Tests
    25% - Homework
    25% - Graded Assignments (Quizzes/Labs/Graded Homework)
10% - Open Notebook Check Quiz
    10% - Class Participation

**************************************************************
See student's binder for all classroom policies. Below are some of the policies in brief.

Visually checked homework receives 1 of 3 grades depending upon completness:

   100% Fully Complete Assignment     100%
   99-50% done                         50%
   Less than 50% done                   0%

Homework is due 24 hours after it is assigned in class when I come around to check or collect it.  No late homework is accepted for credit. No locker passes.

                              ******

All students are responsible for acquiring any free-hand class notes from a classmate on days of absence.

Students will find missed homework and worksheets the day of their absence in the absent folder bin within the classroom.  Students are to complete the missed assignments and submit them within 5 school days for credit.  Failure to do so results in a zero.

Students will not be reminded about missed work.  It is their responsibility to pick up their own missed sheets and submit them to me completed within 5 school days for credit.  Students need to become proficient in knowing how to pick up where they left off and following through on their academics.

As the teacher, I will approach students who need to make up missed quizzes and tests to ensure these are not missed.

                           *****
Eigth grade students in the past have commented on the increased responsibility placed upon them at this grade level.

We as an 8th grade team are preparing you son and daughter to practice and acquire the necessary skills they need in order to be sucessful in high school, only 1 short year away.

Encouragement, reviewing class material with your son and daughter, requiring to see their tests and quizzes allows you to take an active role in your child's education.

As the teacher, you will receive comments on how your child is doing in my room at the 5 week mark of each quarter (sent by the school along with comments on your child's other classes) and at the ten week mark (on the student's report cards).

If you'd like to know your child's average/behavior/homework habits/etc. outside of the above timeframe, please call or e-mail me using the link on this site or at dtremblay@gasd.org  and make me aware of your interest. Thank you.

   Sincerely,

    Miss Tremblay

P.S.
The necessities for this 8th grade science class (Team 8B) include pens/pencils, loose leaf paper and a thick 2" or larger 3-ring binder to be used as your science notebook.

Your science notebook will be of extreme importance to you this coming year and I will guide you as to what notes and worksheets will be included in it.  Your science notebook will serve as your main study guide for this course and it is up to every student to keep it updated and organized.

This site will post homework on a daily basis.  Students will be given the class policies during the first few days of school and will be asked to share these forms with parents so everyone is aware of class expectations.

The purpose of this site is not to replace the recording of daily assignments done by students within class, but to rather serve as a tool for those students who are absent, leave school early, etc. as well as a place for parents to contact me via e-mail.

As an educator who fully realizes that parents have a great interest in what their child is learning, this site is also here to invite parents to view current assignments and to serve as a link to contact me by way of e-mail.

   Sincerely,

     Miss Tremblay
