MS ART 7/8 &  PHOTO I (An HS Elective Art Course.)

THIS WEEK....
ALL SKETCHBOOKS AND ART FOLDERS WILL BE COLLECTED TO STAY IN THE ART ROOM TO BE CHECKED FOR QUARTER GRADES. AFTER OCTOBER 31st YOU WILL LOSE POINTS IF THESE ARE LATE.... NO TRICKS OR TREATS!

Art folders and pencils are to be here every day.
A SKETCHBOOK AND ART FOLDER SHOULD BE WITH YOU EVERY DAY.

FOR CONVENIENCE,SKETCHBOOKS AND FOLDERS CAN BE LEFT IN CABINET IN THE ART ROOM ANY TIME.

ONLY THE ART HELPERS WILL GO INTO THE CABINET TO HAND THEM BACK FOR USE IN CLASS.

SINCE OTHER TEACHERS USE THE ART ROOM FOR OTHER CLASSES, YOU WILL LEAVE YOUR THINGS AT YOUR OWN RISK.  

You are to begin to draw and design ONE independent work weekly throughout the semester. These are to be done each week OVER TIME! All of the things you want considered for your grade should be described on your Table of Contents.( A handout provided in the first week.)
No less than 20 drawings or designs should be done in this semester for a final grade in Art. !) are due to be finished at the end of the FIRST QUARTER.


HS ART STUDIO in PHOTOGRAPHY - FALL 2008:

DUE FOR FIRST QUARTER GRADES, IN THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 3-7, I'LL CHECK THESE ITEMS.......

- ALL PHOTOSHOP EXERCISES: FILL OUT THE IDEA SHEET WITH YOUR NOTES ON TOOLS AND APPLICATIONS FOR EACH PS EXERCISE.  
-AN ENVELOPE OF PHOTOS IN YOUR FOLDER
-A NOTEBOOK WITH INFO AND HANDOUTS
-YOUR COLLECTION OF PHOTOS including Photos from other sources(magazines,photocopies, newspapers, old photographs, printed from internet....)

AN AFTER SCHOOL PROJECT:
(THIS IS OPTIONAL)
If you want to learn about traditional wet-darkroom photography, you will need to buy some 35mm B/W film. Be sure the film is marked FOR USE WITH B/W DEVELOPING PROCESSES.Film is approx.$5.50 a roll. You'll also need a 35 mm camera and /or a digital camera*

THIS YEAR, STUDENTS ENROLLED IN STUDIO in PHOTOGRAPHY  SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS CHANGE. THE COURSE IS NOW AN ADVANCED ART ELECTIVE FOR A SEQUENCE IN THE VISUAL ARTS. YOU CAN ENROLL IN STUDIO in PHOTOGRAPHY AFTER COMPLETING THE BASIC COURSE, STUDIO IN ART! THIS COURSE IS A PREREQUISITE FOR ALL 1/2 CREDIT ART ELECTIVES.

IF THERE'S ENOUGH INTEREST, AN ADVANCED STUDIO IN PHOTOGRAPHY MAY BE OFFERED IN THE FUTURE. EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST IN THIS COURSE WHEN YOU MEET WITH GUIDANCE STAFF TO PLAN YOUR SCHEDULE.

HERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU CAN DO ON YOUR OWN:

Train your eyes to really SEE. THIS IS THE TRICK TO GETTING THE BEST PHOTOS YOU CAN.

Learn from work and examples of ALL the great photographers from the past 200 years!

Practice using your viewfinder to find the good shots out there.

Look at everything.... like you've never looked before!

Start now to build a collection of photos, your own and clippings of pics from magazines websites newspapers and other printed sources. You can collect photos to learn from Professionals, share and swap them with others and you can learn from these, but you can't copy them to use for any other purpose. Copyright laws do apply!

Start putting the pictures you like and don't like into a large envelope or a plastic folder with a clasp .

Check the net often for new technology, photographers, themes and styles to begin to decide on a final idea for your independent project.

BE CREATIVE ...... in whatever you think, say, create,
write, draw, play, share and do.
Look, look, look, and draw, draw.......DRAW....
paint, paint, paint, imagine, imagine, imagine, design, design, design.............
think, Think, THINK!

Color your world every day with an interesting image, picture, thought, idea. CREATIVITY is a key to a very fine and productive life.MAKE LIFE INTERESTING!
