Information for parents and guardians.

Middle school can be a very stressful as well as exiting time in the life of a tween. Together we can make this transitional period smoother and more comfortable for your child.  Below are some tips for you to help you child meet success in 7th and 8th grade social studies.

Organization is the key to success. Students binders should be organized in such a way that they can easily find what they need. It would be helpful if once a week or every other week you could go through their binder and help them reorganize. If you find that your child is having difficulty with this we can work with him or her after school.

Homework. Homework is designed to reinforce the learning that takes place within the classroom. It is critical that homework¡¦s are completed in a timely fashion. Students are provided with their assignment for the week every Monday.  Please check your Childs agenda or school notes.com to check that they are completing them. At the minimum Vocabulary and current events are due every week. These assignments need to be done in complete sentences that answer the questions who, what, where, when and how. Please talk with your child about the importance of homework.

World events: Talk to your child on a regular basis about issues that are going on in the world as well as locally. This will foster a sense of community and awareness in your child.

Communication: If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call me at school, home or email me. I want your child to succeed and love learning. If I am unaware of a problem, I cannot fix it. Talk to your child on a regular basis about what is going on in school. Show an interest in what they are learning and it will be reflected in the quality of their work.
