TODAY IS DAY 2
GENERAL INFO:  

Attention Seniors: There are two $1000 need based scholarships available, 1 for a boy and 1 for a girl. You have to write a short essay explaining why you need the money for college. Submit your essay to Ms. Cushing by Thursday, May 22nd.

The following students need to pick up their jewelry orders from Mrs. Rivenburgh after school: Samantha Potter, Victoria Carter, and Ashley Dooley.

Attention all 8th Graders: Jewelry is in – please stop by Mrs. Rivenburgh’s room after school to pick it up!

Attention all 7th & 8th graders: There will be a dance tonight in the high school gym from 7:30-10:00.  There is a $3.00 charge for Fort Plain students, and $4.00 for guests. Sign up your guest in the main office.
Attention 8th grade students: Just a reminder about the dance and to please bring in soda to sell.

Attention Seniors: The Jostens representative will return to Fort Plain High School to deliver your graduation announcements Thursday, May 15th @ 10:30 thru lunches in the main lobby.

PEP RALLY May 15th!  Buckets will be going around to collect money for Krystie. Only catch is there will be teacher names on them. Whoever gets the most money in their bucket has to kiss the cow at the pep rally. Fill your favorite teachers’ bucket up!!!!!!!!!!!!

Attention Freshman: We need workers for the bake sale in the park on Saturday, May 17th, 2008 for Community Days, 12:00-4:00 PM . Please sign up with Nolan Reese, Anderson Briggs, or Alex Carter. Remember points!

The vocal lesson schedule for today is as follows: Period 3– Group 2, Period 7 – Group 3. For make-up lesson, see Mrs. Sincavage.

Attention Students in grades 9 and 10 interested in the medical field. There is a 4-day summer internship opportunity at Fox Hospital and Bassett Healthcare. Stop into the Guidance Office for more information.

SPORTS/EXTRACURRICULAR:  

Modified softball practice 3-4 PM at the high school.

FMCC is sponsoring an Intercollegiate Athletic Information Night on Wed. May 14th @ 7:00 PM in the FMCC Theatre. Speakers include: Andrew Francis - Sienna Assist. Men’s Basketball – Chris Gilmore – Saint Rose Soccer,
John Green – RPI Women’s Basketball Coach, and Kevin Jones - FMCC AD and Women’s Basketball Coach.

Dr. Sinchak will be in on Monday, May 12th for sports physicals beginning @ 8:30 AM. Please check to see what time you need to report to the nurse. Please note that this is the last time the Dr. will be in before summer vacation.

GUIDANCE AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIP:

NEW!! Fulmont Community Action Agency scholarship: Two $1000 scholarships distributed among three school districts. Must fall within 185% of the federal poverty level. Deadline is May 9th. Application in Guidance.

NEW!!!! Montgomery County Stop-DWI Scholarship: Submit an application by May 9th, 2008.  $1000 award, information is available in the guidance office.

NEW!!! James Dern Memorial Scholarship, $500 award for distance runner (cross country or track) for two years.
Deadline is May 23.  Application in guidance.

NEW!!! Epilepsy Foundation of NE New York and Lyle R Fieser Scholarship: Two $1000 scholarships. Must have medical documentation of current treatment for epilepsy. Deadline is May 23, application in guidance.

UPPER Montgomery County Retired Teachers Association: One $500 scholarship to high school graduation senior who plans on entering the field of education, K-12. Applications are in the guidance office. Deadline is May 31, 2008.

Lawrence Madeiros Memorial Scholarships, minimum of $1,000 for graduating seniors who: are diagnosed with a bleeding disorder or other chronic disorder and are planning to attend an accredited college or university. Deadline is June 1.  Applications are available in the guidance office.

NEW!!!! William J. Houtz Scholarships. Two $1000 scholarships for seniors who are continuing their education in fields of math, science or technology. Applications are available in the guidance office. Deadline is June 20th.

Anthony Carson Scholarship: $1000 to a graduating senior, must be a member in good standing of MCT Federal Credit Union. Applications are in the guidance office.

Students who participate in University in the High School Program who have an overall GPA of 90 or better and combined SAT Math and Reading score of at least 1250 are eligible for SUNY Albany Presidential Scholarship. $3500 annually.  Check out www.albany.edu.

American Legion Financial Aid Handbook is available in the guidance office. It lists the American Legion and other Scholarships and the process for completing applications.
