First Quarterly Reward Party Update
Throughout the years, there have been numerous conversations among parents, teachers, and PBIS committee members regarding our reward parties. The biggest concern has been whether our younger students were developmentally able to understand the long term consequences of log-ins and their bearing on their participation in the quarterly reward parties. Upon explaining our current process with new administration, these same concerns and question arose. After lengthy discussions with our Regional PBIS Coordinator, administrators, parents and PBIS committee members it has been decided that we are going to change our reward system so that it is more developmentally appropriate. The new system will teach students in a progressive manner while allowing them to be rewarded at their developmental level. The new system will be as follows:
-K-Students will be given topper bucks for good behavior to use at the store and for raffles. Kick offs will continue to be done by kindergarten teachers at the beginning of the year. Teachers should let students know that as they get older they will have the opportunity to earn certificates and participate in parties when they have no log-ins.
-1st- Students will be given topper bucks for good behavior to use at the store and for raffles. Students will participate in the annual kick off. Students who have no log-ins will receive a certificate each quarter recognizing that accomplishment. This certificate will be mailed home by the PBIS committee. Teachers will continue to let students know that as they get older they will have the opportunity to participate in parties for no log-ins.
-2nd-4th- Students will be given topper bucks for good behavior to use at the store and for raffles. Students will participate in the annual kick off. Students will participate in quarterly rewards parties if they have received no log-ins throughout that quarter. Teachers will let students know that once they are in 5th and 6th grade, they will have the opportunity to participate in the end of the year picnic.
-5th-6th- Students will be given topper bucks for good behavior to use at the store and for raffles. Students will participate in the annual kick off. Students will participate in quarterly rewards parties if they have received no log-ins throughout that quarter. Students who have had no log-ins throughout the year will be allowed to participate in the end of the year picnic.
Tentative quarterly reward party plans for grades 2-6 will be the week of November 5th. The party will be activities in the gym.
