Hardest reading level this month Alex & Halie Most pages in a book this month Monica-87 pp. Abby-69 pp. Hardest book this month Alex, Libby, & Jessica  Just when you thought there couldn't be any more prizes, PIZZA HUT comes to the rescue! I will be giving the children coupons for a personal pan pizza (donated by Pizza Hut). Of course, there is a catch. The children will have to earn 11 AR points during the month of December to redeem the coupon. If all goes well, we will do this contest every month through March. KEEP READING! THE FOLLOWING STUDENTS HAVE EARNED 11 POINTS THIS MONTH AND WILL BE RECEIVING A COUPON FOR A PERSONAL PAN PIZZA: CONGRATULATIONS! ALEX, JOHN, SARA M., LIBBY,& ROBERT In January the children need to earn 11 points to qualify for a free pizza.   MATH PROBLEMS OF THE WEEK Write four sentences for the fact family 7, 9, 16. Count by 10's backwards from 210 - 0. If it is 1:15, what time will it be in 20 minutes? The Dallas Cowboys have 24 points and the Buffalo Bills have 17 points. How many more points do the Cowboys have than the Bills? Write a number model. Write down the answers to these problems and turn them in to me to receive a sticker! WRITING This month the children will write their own imaginative story that will be graded by the second grade teachers for their second assessment. After much practicing the children will have to describe a stuffed animal, tell how it comes to life, discuss the problems this causes, and then must solve the problem.  During the month of DECEMBER we had an BERENSTAIN BEARS Contest. Any child who read 4 B. Bear books and scored 80% on the AR Tests could be in the B. Bear Fan Club and qualify for prizes. I am pleased to announce the members of the club who did a terrific job and worked very hard. They are: LIBBY - 24 books, SARAH M. - 20, BRAYDON - 16, HALIE - 13, JESSICA - 11, GABRIELLE-9, ALEX-8, SARAH S. - 8, DARREN - 7, TIM - 7, CHARLYNE - 6, ROBERT - 6, & JOHN-5.  During the month of JANUARY we are looking for students who love to read HORRIBLE HARRY chapter books. Any student who reads 4 Horrible Harry books and scores at least 80% on the AR tests can be a member of the Horrible Harry Club and qualify for some "horrible" prizes. A number after the name means how many times they have been a super reader.
