Welcome back for an exciting new school year in eighth grade science !!!! I'm looking forward to another great year in Science Class. This web page is to inform you and your parents as to what is taking place in Science Class and your responsibilities. 1. Attendance is important. Students who are absent will miss a lot of lab work and will be at a disadvantage, in terms of science knowledge covered in class. 2. Bring your materials to class with you everyday.(pen or pencil, notebook, textbook, science folder) 3. Complete homework assignments on time. (They are graded) 4. Pay attention during class and when notes are given, take good notes to use as a reference to study for tests. 5. Ask for extra help if you do not understand the material we are covering in class. 6. Act in a polite and respectful manner in class, especially towards other classmates. 7. Safety is very important in my science class. During all labs and activities you will consider your safety as well as the safety of other students first. Throughout this course you will be involved directly (via classroom and lab activities) with a variety of Physical and Earth science topics, such as ; motion, energy & power, forces, characteristics of waves, sound, eletromagnetic spectrum, rock cycle, weather, solar system, impacts of science and technology on our global enviroment, to name a few. Other things of interest that would enhance your knowledge of the curriculum (if you have internet access)would be to check out my favorite links above. Television programs related to the science curriculum include : Discovery Channel, Learning Channel, Bill Nye The Science Guy. These are just a few of the many things available to stir up some interest in science and to improve your science knowledge. _____________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________ UPCOMING DATES:
