I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We now head into a very busy season. We talked about Advent today. Ask your child what he/she has decided to do for Advent to make ready for Christmas.
This week I will begin reading Little House in the Big Woods, by Laura Ingles Wilder. It is one of my favorite books and I feel it gives the children a picture of what life was like back then. Hopefully some of the children will continue on with the series when I have finished the first book.
We are looking forward to our Craft Day next week. Thank you to all who have volunteered to come in to help. We will work from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.
One of the things the children will be making is a Christmas stocking. On December 23rd we will be having our Christmas party and we will be using the stockings in a special way. Each year I ask that each child bring in 27 of something to put in the stockings. There are many possibilities: candy canes, pencils, or erasers. The Dollar Store is a great place to look for things that come in multiple packages. Keep is simple and small. The children will each have a chance to put the items in each child's stocking. Have them secretly give me their items and I will put them away until the party. This is a great alternative to a gift exchange.
This week our homework will be math and spelling sentences each night. We will be having a science teat on Chapter 1 of our Habitats unit on Friday along with a math and spelling test. The December Book Reports are coming home today. The November ones look Great!
As we head into these last weeks before Christmas let us remember the true meaning of Christmas. I know this is a busy time of year and I thank you for all your time and effort in helping both myself, and your children.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Debbie Sinclair
