April PREVIEW

Hello Parents,

With the turn of the calendar page comes the feeling of Spring! I am giving you an overview of what to expect this month. Of course, everything depends on the daily achievements of our kids!

TERRA NOVA TESTING:
Please check your calendars for dates. ALL students need to arrive to school ON TIME and come with 2 sharpened #2 pencils (NOT Mechanical). They are responsible for having a CLEAN eraser. Any snacks sent in MUST be healthy. Fruit roll ups and fruit chews are not healthy.  Vacations will be counted as illegal absences.

READING:
Continue to make that 20 minute daily reading time a priority. Many of the children have come to find their favorite genres, authors,or series so they should have a book with them at all times.
As you can tell, their reading skills and strategies have been elevated. Focus now is on fact and opinion, cause and effect, inferencing, and using sophisticated vocabulary. Knowing their homophones and synonyms will help tremendously.

WRITING:
They  are learning about the many crafts authors use to write interesting stories. They have been working on "pyramid" stories and will move onto "story wraps".

RELIGION:
Easter will take front and center!  We will continue with chapter work and learning the Apostle's Creed.

FINAL REMINDERS:
LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE EVERY THURSDAY-EVEN RENEWALS
Continue to visit the websites sent home earlier, but remember that pencil and paper practice for math, spelling and handwriting are even more important.
