READING:
AR book level 5.9
Oral Reports will end Mon. 5/18/09
We will read FOLLOW THE LEADER by Garfield and we will create a Problem/Solution Chart that we will complete as we read the book. We will also Compare/Contrast two characters in a Venn Diagram as we read the story.
Thank you to James Hughes' Mom for supplying the books. We are enjoying the story.
Students will not have written homework on weekends, they may want to read over the story or study another subject. Tests in Reading will not always be on a Friday. We cover more skills and strategies in 5th grade, therefore it may take longer for each selection.
RELIGION:
The students will understand that the 50 days from Easter Sunday to Pentecost are celebrated in joyful exultation as one feast day. These above all others are days of singing of the ALLELUIA!
The students will learn more about Mary our Mother. They will understand that Mary is a model of discipalship for us and for the Church. The students will learn that Mary was open to God's call.
We will also begin Chapter 24, Matrimony, and we will learn that this sacrament is built on Christ's love for His Church.
Pray the Rosary with your children.
