It is hard to believe that October is over. I was just getting used to the idea of Halloween parties and trick or treat. It will be good that the environment will calm down a bit, though.
This will be a busy week now that most of the children have returned. We certainly had a spell of sickness in 1-1. Maybe this week will be more productive.
In Religion, we will discuss the sacrament Baptism and all that it entails. The terms Christian and church are used during this chapter. We will learn the story of a very young saint named St. Julie and we will take a quiz on Ch 5 toward the end of the week.
In Lang. Arts, we will learn the term "action word" amd the naming parts of a sentence. We will begin a new list of Spelling words and practice words with the short "i" sound. Continue to read each night with your children. It is important that they know their high frequency words as they read.
In Math, we will learn the term "count on", doubles, and doubles plus one. I would ask that you practice subtrction facts with your children. Mostly due to sickness, some of the children are forgetting how to subtract and how to interpret diagrams which are used to make subtraction sentences.
In Science, we will learn all about the pumpkin. We will make a pumpkin book and learn the sequence of steps in its growth.
I will try to talk about the elections if I have a few extra minutes, although I had planned to talk about the Safe Environment Plan which has to do with child safety.
