Phonics Book
Grammar Book
Math Workbook
Handwriting Book (if not already covered)
Thank you in advance for doing this, these are consumable books with very thin covers, covering them protects them and keeps them from tearing.
Many of the children expressed an interest in completing pages in these books. You may, at your disgression, have them complete any of the pages from the beginning of the book up to page 20, except for handwriting. I need to monitor that and "catch" any mistakes in letter formation. All of these pages DO NOT NEED to be completed over the long weekend. Please complete what you are comfortable doing.

Science- I have sent home Science Summaries and their Science Lab Manual. There will be a test on Tuesday. While Science is taught and not graded in Second Grade, we do need to perform assessments. Using the summaries and the lab manual as a guide, will help your child with this. The test is almost verbatim of the manual. Please do not stress over this, but do help your child review, thanks!
There are three tests in their yellow folder for your signature and return tomorrow.
TOMORROW IS A PHILLIES DRESS DOWN DAY!! ANY PHILLIES OR RED OR WHITE SHIRT, JEANS OR SWEATS, AND SNEAKERS.

We received our penmanship books today. They will need to be covered in clear contact paper at your earliest convenience. (Your favorite thing to do, I know!) Slowly our books are being delivered so there will be at least two more books that will require contact paper, just a little fyi!

Thanks to the many parents who made our Halloween party so swell! The donut/oreo eating contest was too funny! The children truly enjoyed themselves and I am grateful for all you parents do for our school and the children. Have a safe and Happy Halloween and enjoy the long weekend!

The children visited the Peace Pole this afternoon. They were excited to learn that the prayer is said in four different languages. Ask them about it!

Second Grade will be having an indoor lunch tomorrow as a result of their behavior at today's lunch. They are to speak with you about this. We spoke about how we can make better choices and to take care of just ourselves. I am certain we will be making better choices in the future!

None!! In honor of the Phillies Second Grade does not have homework! It was a very busy and fun day. Msgr. Matz was thrilled with our surprise in the Parish Hall and enjoyed receiving the stole the school gave him for his vestments. We enjoyed a little slide show and each class was filmed wishing him congratulations.
Mrs. Douglas came to all of the classrooms and showed us the Phillies Game rings from years past as well as last year's World Series ring, all courtesy of her neighbor. Needless to say, the children were so excited!
Tomorrow is Picture Day. Winter uniforms need to be worn. (Jackets too...it's cold on the playground and we go out two times a day, weather permitting!) Please send in your envelope if you have not already done so, thanks. The following families need to send in a dollar for the Dress Down Donation: Caulfield, Griffin and McDevitt (it was a dollar per child, not per family!)

Tomorrow is PHILLIES DRESS DOWN DAY. There will be a donation of one dollar. Play clothes and any Phillies shirt and/or red shirt. Or something as close to that as possible! It is also Hot Dog Day tomorrow. If your child does not receive hot dogs, please send in their regular lunch. Pretzels will be on sale as usual and milk is provided for those who order it.
Thursday is Picture Day. It is also the first day of our Winter uniform. Please check our Handbook if you have any questions regarding the correct uniform.

Please sign your child's tests in their yellow folder and return on Monday. Also enclosed in their yellow folder is a Religion worksheet regarding their baptism. Please take a moment and help your child complete this information as it is needed for our next chapter, thanks! This should come back on Monday as well. The other papers on the Leave At Home Side can be left at home. The photos coming in are really darling and the children are getting a kick out of seeing each other as babies!
This is a KIDSTUFF update. The following families either need to make a payment for the coupon book, or return it to school. The cost is $25.00 payable to St. Gen's School. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

NEWS FLASH!! We will be discussing baptism in Religion. I am asking for a photo of your child from their baptism. I only need a small one (regular size). I place them on a poster in the classroom and the children really enjoy looking at them. It is not required to bring one in, only if you are able. If you do not have a baptism, an infant photo would be fine as well. Again, do not tear your house apart to accomplish this! They can be sent in at anytime.
