I am looking forward to conferences this Thursday and Friday. If you have not scheduled a conference yet, please schedule as soon as possible as times are almost filled. If you cannot come in, but would like a phone conference, please send in a note.
I will be sending home progress reports in this week's family envelope. Please, sign and return it on Wednesday so that I know you have reviewed it. Also, please take a minute or two to jot down any questions or concerns you may have so they can be discussed at our conference. We have only 20 minutes, and I would like our time to be productive.
T.O.P. Dates: The next tree observation is due on Monday, Nov. 2nd. Students will be completing their leaf observation on Tues. Oct. 27th. Every student should bring in a leaf on that day.
MATH Update!
We will begin to learn out times tables. We are using the TIMES TABLES THE FUN WAY method, which is a series of stories shown on a DVD along with worksheets to help the childeren remember the times tables facts. Frequent quizzes are given to check progress. A word of warning, students will still need continual reinforcement of the facts on a daily basis at home. That's where you come in. It will be essential for you to quiz your child every night on the facts they learn that day as well as the previous facts learned. I cannot stress strongly enough the importance of your help and support in this math milestone!
Coming up:
Religion: The Trinity and the Sacraments of Initiation
Science: The three layers of soil, the three types of, and the four parts of soil, as well as our tree observation project.
Social Studies: Types of Communities; rural, urban and suburban.
Writing: A spooky Halloween story!
Reading: Liturature Circles later this month or early next month.
As always, thanks for your support and feel free to contact me with any problems that might arise.
