January is here! The weather is so cold. The children love seeing snowflakes fall while working in the classroom. We raced out recently and caught some on our tongues.
SNACKS- For years I have only allowed healthy snacks in my room. This year the children will be allowed to bring in ONLY fruit, veggies and water. Other snacks will have to be saved for lunch. I find that they are more focused and have more energy with healthy snacks. Thank you.
****EMAILS**** Please change from WSD to WSDSECURE in you subject.
During math we will be focusing on addition of three or more numbers, comparison of number stories, subtraction stories and multiplication with arrays. Please continue to support them in their homework and extra practice on time and money is always positive too.
Our new science kit has arrived. The focus is on balance and weighing. They have looked at ways that they balance and activities that they do that involves balancing. We will be making large scales with buckets and weighing different objects.
Reader's workshop started our first week. LOTS of wonderful books are in the room and I know they are all reading one that is just right for them. Our time with Dr. Beckman has been great. We are doing small group work and moving along in our different reading levels. Please work at home on comprehension skills. It is also nice to have the children do a summary or retell of the book.
We are writing daily. They are really focusing on editing. They are learning where punctuation marks go and how it makes their pieces sound when they read them or a friend does.
Keefer hopes to come to 2K soon!
