The students were told that they could read any book that they would like to. The stipulation was that they would be using it as one of their resources for the term paper topic that they will choose in the beginning of the year. It can be a fit thematically, through the author and their life, the storyline and plot, the genre, etc...just about anything actually as long as they can tie it into a topic of their choosing. They will be presenting these books to their classmates through a question and answer session and will be evaluated based on the answers that they give.
Additionally, students are required to purchase the book, Tuesdays with Morrie, by Mitch Albom which we will be reading starting with their second reading class. I am asking them to purchase this book because we will be learning how to evaluate a novel and I would like them to be able to highlight and write in these books.
