Where we’ve been:
•We are learning so BEARY much in our reading groups!! Everyone seems to be learning the skills they need to practice!
•We continued learning about money. We practice naming each coin and telling value of each coin. We also began to add money!!
•We compared and contrasted characters in books to ourselves, and to other characters in the story.
•We began the writing process for our books to be published. We have already gotten through the first step (PLANNING) and we are working very hard on writing the stories!
•We began learning about liquids and solids.
•We celebrated the 100th Day of School!!! It was so much fun. We made a trail mix with the 100 pieces of food that we each brought in. Some people brought 2 things and Mrs. Bishop chipped in – we ended up with 2900 pieces in our bowl!!! We also wrote “100 Words of Kindness” and made structures using 100 marshmallows and 100 toothpicks. We also had a Hershey Kisses hunt – we found ALL 100 kisses hidden in the room!!
Where we are going:
•We will review the graphic organizers we have used in class so far – story map, sequencing events, main ideas & details, and compare & contrast.
•We will continue to follow the writing process for our published book – next steps are revising & checking.
•We will continue learning about money. We will learn about buying items – Do we have enough money?...How much more do we need?...How much is left over?, etc.
•We will continue with the new Science unit – Liquids and Solids.
